Abserv International was formed in 2007
to provide a service to the oil industry to abandon subsea wells
in a safe and efficient manner without subsequent damage to the environment.
This could occur in later years due to hydrocarbon leakage to surface
through poor placement of abandonment plugs, the wrong type of abandonment
plugs and a flawed engineering design. If the wrong reservoir life
cycle pressure is chosen, and the abandonment plugs are not set across
a formation with sufficient formation strength to contain that pressure
then in time there could be a leakage to surface causing pollution.
Wells should be abandoned once using a correct engineered design.
To return to a site in later years to fix a flawed abandonment is
something that should be avoided.
Abserv is committed to protecting the environment by using sound
engineering principles coupled with rigorous procedures. We are committed
to carrying out Abs [abandonments] that will remain intact.
Although our operational goal is to provide a cost effective service,
safety will not be compromised by trying to keep the costs low. We
are committed to a zero safety culture with a goal of no incidents
or accidents.
Abserv will use innovative solutions to abandon your wells through
the use of semi-submersible drilling rigs, DP Vessels and selective tools
specifically designed for abandoning wells. Abserv is in the process
of designing a new range of tools for the abandonment of wells.
Abservs personnel has a wealth of expertise concerned with the design
of all types of wells including knowledge about the reservoir, life
cycle pressure and fracture models with over 25 years of experience
working for major oil companies. Since 2000, Abservs personnel have
been actively engaged in abandoning wells for a number of companies
in the UKs North Sea.
